The Brooding
A devoted mother duck sits patiently on her nest day and night, keeping the precious eggs warm through the long weeks of waiting. Yellow, fluffy ducklings soon begin to hatch. One large, heavier egg takes longer and, when it finally hatches, a big, white, strange-looking bird emerges.
The Teasing
The other farm animals and even his siblings laugh at him and call him ugly. Feeling sad and unwanted, the little bird runs away from home.
The Hard Winter
He spends a lonely, freezing winter hiding and struggling to find food, but he survives the cold, eating a specialised diet of algae and brine shrimp.
The Transformation
When spring arrives, he sees a flamboyance of graceful, bright pink waterbirds. He looks at his reflection in the water and realises he is not a duck at all, but one of their gorgeous kind.
The Happy Ending
The other flamingos welcome him and he lives happily, knowing he was special all along.
The Moral
True beauty comes from within and everyone finds their own place where they truly belong.
